DANVILLE FOODSTOCK OFFERS FOURTH FREE DINNER
Sunday Dinners Continue in New Location

Danville, IL, April 6, 2009 - Danville Foodstock will host its fourth free dinner at a new location, and with a new chef. The dinner will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2009, and is open to all for as long as the food lasts. A chapter of Foodstock Charities, which is a project of the Life with Spirit Foundation, Danville Foodstock was founded in the beginning of 2008. It's mission is to serve the community by offering food - and hope - to those with the greatest need.

"With so many losing their jobs, and struggling to make ends meet, more people than ever before need help," said Lane Baldwin, founder and Executive Director of Foodstock Charities. "This is one more way that we can help, and encourage others to get involved."

For the remainder of 2009, the Foodstock Sunday Dinner series will be held at 501 N. Mayfield, immediately adjacent to the Tilton Ball Park. "We've known since we began in January that we would need to find a better, larger location," said Glenda Ford-Baldwin, Volunteer Coordinator for the project. "The construction of the 14th St. overpass has made it very difficult to access the previous location. Thankfully, that is no longer a problem."

Seniors and handicapped who cannot attend in person may call to schedule home delivery. "We have an all-volunteer delivery crew to deliver meals," said Glenda. "We schedule deliveries on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage everyone who would like a meal to call us as soon as possible."

Since the dinner series began in January, each dinner has served twice as many people. Last month, the project served one hundred twenty-seven meals, of which almost half were delivered. This month they hope to serve two hundred fifty meals. "Every time I turn around, I hear about more neighbors losing their jobs, or having their hours cut back," said Baldwin. "Our food pantries are overwhelmed by the increase. Now more than ever, it is vital to the health of our community to reach out to those in need."

While the dinner series was initially funded by Baldwin and his wife, as well as an ongoing commitment by County Market, individual donations are on the rise. "We really appreciate the way the community is coming together to support the dinners," said Baldwin. "It means we can feed more people."

With this dinner, Foodstock Charities welcomes long-term Danville resident Monty Schroeder to its team. Schroeder, a committed community volunteer best known for his work with the Danville Jaycees, will oversee all kitchen and food service operations, and serve as the foundation's secretary. "Monty and Glenda are life-long friends," said Baldwin, "and they have a long history of working together as volunteers. We're very excited to welcome him to the team."

Foodstock Charities began as a way for Baldwin's band Deeper Blues to commemorate the release of its first CD, Dig the Hole. This year, Foodstock is going national, with concerts scheduled in several cities across the US. The first one will be in San Jose, CA. They are also seeking 501(c)3 non-profit status for The Life with Spirit Foundation, and are pursuing sponsorship discussions with several large corporations.

"All faiths teach that the key to fulfillment is our service to others," Baldwin said. "This is our service to our community, our way of helping to make things better. We can't think of anything more basic, more necessary, than providing food for those in need."

The Foodstock Sunday Dinner will be served from noon till 3 p.m., with doors opening at 11:00. The dinner will be held at the Tilton Ball Park complex at 501 N. Mayfield.
