How You Can Help

There are many ways...

Volunteer

If you have a few hours, or a few dollars, coupled with a desire to help those in need, there are many ways you can us complete our mission. For instance, if you have time, and are willing to work hard for no pay but a lot of satisfaction, you can:

  • deliver meals to seniors and handicapped (and their caregivers) who cannot attend our Sunday dinners.
  • assist with promotion and production of our benefit concerts and other events
  • assist with gaining sponsorships from local businesses, churches and other organizations
  • if you are a musician or entertainer, perform at one of our events
  • arrange an opportunity for our founder, Lane Baldwin, to speak to your organization
  • arrange a media interview or story on our work
  • write letter to the editor in support of our efforts
  • help create a new project or event
  • help create a relationship between Danville Foodstock and another organization
  • help us with web design, especially on social networking sites
  • and that's just for starters...

Fulfill Our Wish (List)

We just created the first version today, so it's far from complete. We will add to it as quickly as possible. For now, here's our Wish List. If you can donate any of the following, or know someone who can, please send us an email.

Ongoing Needs

To-go clamshell boxes -The full meal-sized multi-compartment boxes work best, but we'll take whatever you have! And we always need more!

Cups - Until we have enough reusable cups and glasses, we need 16-oz. plastic cups, and hot cups for coffee and hot tea.

Dixie Cups - We use the 5-oz. size for many of our desserts. We use several hundred every meal.

Table covering - The commercial kind, on a large roll. You'd be amazed how many tables you can cover with a single roll.

Spices/Seasonings - The list changes, but includes salt, pepper, sugar, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, parsley flakes, and a lot more. If you'd like to donate to this list, please send us an email for our current needs.

One-Time Purchases
Flatware - We already have some, which we were able to get at 3 for a dollar. Our goal matches the one above, 250 settings.

Glasses - We'd actually rather stay away from glass, as we said earlier. So we're looking for 250-300 hard plastic "glasses." We're talking about the washable, reusable kind.

Posters - We'd love to have 200-300 color posters in 11x17 (or 8.5x14) to promote our dinner series. These would include all dates for the 2010 dinner series, and would be permanently placed at strategic business and government assitance locations. We will also offer them to all churches and spiritual organizations in the area.

High Chairs and Boosters - For smaller children

Commercial Coffee/Tea system - We'd love to eventually have an airpot system, but if you have old Bunn in the garage, we can use it!

Metal folding chairs - We don't care if they're scratched up, as long as they are in working order, and won't collapse under a normal person's weight.

Serving Trays and Stands - We could use up to a dozen large serving trays, and up to six folding tray stands.

Donate

In addition to the list above, we sincerely appreciate any donations to help fund our work. All donations go to our programs and expenses. No one in Danville Foodstock makes a penny for their work.

The Danville Foodstock team continues to contribute individually to make up for any shortfall in expenses. However, in order to expand our dinner series to feed more people in need (and, so far, we've only scratched the surface), as well as our other projects, we can sure use some help. Believe us when we tell you that no donation is too small. We will greatfully accept whatever you can offer.

Learn More

If you'd like to learn more about how you can help Danville Foodstock, or to coordinate a donation, please send us an email. Regardless of how you can help, thank you very much for your support.
