About
Our Team
Danville
Foodstock is the charter chapter of Foodstock
Charities. (Read our Mission Statement
for more info.) It began in early 2008 as a one-off benefit
concert conceived by the Danville, Illinois, band Deeper
Blues to commemorate the release of Dig the Hole,
the group's first CD. The concert, which supported the Danville
Area Food Pantry, was a surprising success and quickly led to
a second concert that same year. Lane Baldwin - founder of both
Deeper Blues and Foodstock Charities - explains:
"Deeper
Blues is all about honoring the tradition behind the Blues as
it was in the beginning. A strong sense of community, and the
support of each member of that community is integral to that
tradition. Now, who do you know that needs help more than those
who are unable to feed their children?"
No
one expected the project to sprout a national network of chapters.
"We just hoped we'd generate enough interest to mount an
annual concert," Baldwin says. "Instead, we were invited
to produce a second event before the end of the year."
Lane
enthusiastically spread the word to dozens of musicians (all
close friends) around the country. Many were inspired to consider
mounting Foodstock events in their communities. In less than
a year, events were planned in a number of areas, and there
are more than a dozen locations in the planning stages.
"There
are several among our team of volunteers who, at one time or
another, have had to rely on the kindness of others to put food
on the table. I'm one of them. I know about the loneliness and
despair that goes with that. And we all want to address that
in our community, to bring some hope to those in dire need."

Lane
Baldwin
Lane is the leader/founder of Deeper
Blues, as well as the Life
with Spirit Foundation. In addition, he maintains
a business
consulting practice. For more than twenty-five years,
he has pursued intertwined careers in music and humanisitc
management. Fifteen years ago, Lane expanded beyond training
and motivational workshops to include positive living
and spirituality. It is this third "career path"
that led to the creation of Foodstock Charities, and to
the work it does (and hopes to do in the future). Lane
produces the Foodstock events and serves as fundarising
and promotional coordinator.
Lane
has been a resident of the Danville area for five and
a half years. He recently relocated to Tilton (immediately
south of Danville) upon marrying life-long Tilton resident
Glenda Ford -Baldwin.

Monty
Schroeder
Monty
is a life-long resident of the Danville area. As the senior
representative of the Danville Jaycees, he manages all
kitchen and food service operations for Danville Foodstock.
His decades of restaurant and kitchen management experience,
as well as his extensive work as a chef and caterer, are
invaluable to the Foodstock programs.
In
addition, Monty has been involved in community service
for decades, and is connected to many, if not most, organizations
in the area.

Glenda
Ford-Baldwin
Glenda's family has been in the Tilton/Danville area for
several generations, with four generations still here.
A community volunteer her entire life, she is the perfect
person to coordinate our volunteer activities. Glenda
prefers to work in the background - if it were up to her,
she wouldn't even be listed on this page - but the work
she does is vital to our success, and we felt it deserves
recognition.
By
the way, when Glenda caught Lane trying to take her picture,
she turned away and said, "Stop taking pictures of
me!" And, because Lane really appreciates his marriage
and his wife, he did.
